There is positive news for the UK’s construction sector as it sees its biggest rise since October 2014.
The latest PMI figures show November indicates a sustained recovery in UK construction output, with the rate of expansion accelerating from the previous month.
All three categories of activity saw higher output in November: housebuilding, civil engineering and commercial.
Housebuilding was the best-performing area as the residential market continues to go from strength-to-strength.
A spotlight was put on housebuilding following Boris Johnsons speech encouraging the UK to “build, build, build” as part of his post-coronavirus recovery plan.
This was further bolstered by other incentives such as a stamp duty holiday, the extension of existing help-to-buy schemes and new regulations which make it easier to build better homes where people want to live.
Civils engineering returned to growth in November, while commercial work increased only marginally.
Additionally, new business volumes expanded at a robust and accelerated pace in November.
