A recent flurry of contracts makes the North West the UK's top performer.
The region is experiencing promising growth and is leading the UK constructions fight back with project starts.
Glenigan, the construction insight and intelligence firm said that despite the decline in projects across the board, a slowing rate suggests an upward trajectory is due towards the end of the year.
The North West region is showing particular promise, with the highest value underlying project starts in the country.
They were the only area to experience growth on the preceding three months and was the best performing region against 2020 figures.
Rhys Gadsby, economic analyst at Glenigans said, "Although project starts have consistently declined over the last 5 months, they have largely remained up on the previous year. Particularly in regions such as the North West."
Further to this they are also showing strong resolve within housing; projects starts for private housing are up 143% on 2020 figures and increased by 36% on the same time period in 2019.
Whilst the average UK infrastructure project starts experiences downturn, the North West underlying projects starts rose by 87% on the 2020 figure and 136% on the same time two years ago.
