The beginning of the year is the perfect time to think about where you’d like your career to go and as such, January is the month employees are most likely to think about changing jobs.
Historically, there is an annual surge in job seeking activity during the first month of the year.
The turning of the calendar is often used to establish a professional New Year’s resolution that will help individuals to achieve their goals faster by providing them with a clear destination to aim for.
The Data
According to Glassdoor traffic data, the busiest day for job seekers in the UK tends to be the Tuesday of the first full business week of the year. In 2022, this is Tuesday 11th January.
In January, there are 17 percent more job applications started in the UK on Glassdoor than on an average month, a stark difference from the traditionally slower months of November and December.
January is usually one of the best months to launch a job search because many companies begin a fresh wave of hiring to match the business plans that they set for the annum.
