An extra 216,800 construction workers will be needed by 2025, as construction bounces back quicker than expected following the Covid-19 pandemic.
By the end of 2022 the industry will reach 2019 output levels and by 2025 they will need to recruit an additional 216,800 new workers in order to meet demand.
According to CSB, most English regions will experience an increase of workers by 2025 with the East and West Midlands to lead in this demand.
The main drivers of growth over the next four years will be the infrastructure and housing sectors, projects such as HS2 will be a major source for demand over the coming years.
Further to this, according to a report from the CITB the need to retrofit existing buildings with net zero emission targets will also increase demand.
According to the analysis; 3,600 construction managers, 3,400 professionals in electrical installation, 5,500 wood trades & interior fit-out and 5,150 other construction professionals will also be needed every year.
There will also be a demand for office-based professionals such as technical support staff.
