Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, has confirmed a second national lockdown in England will begin this Thursday (5th November).
People are being told to work from home wherever possible.
Workplaces such as construction sites will be allowed to remain open where staff cannot work from home.
The Prime Minister said: “Workplaces should stay open where peoples can’t work from home – for example in the construction or manufacturing sectors.”
It was added that these exceptions were essential to keeping the country operating and supporting vital sectors and employers.
The furlough scheme has also been extended until December, with employees receiving 80% of their current salary (up to a maximum of £2500).
It has been confirmed that the housing market will remain open during the second lockdown.
