Buildout Lays Foundations for Future Growth

Buildout Lays Foundations for Future Growth

A specialist construction recruitment company set up three years ago is gearing up for future growth as the UK economy looks to bounce back through Boris Johnson’s ‘build, build, build’ strategy.

Buildout Recruitment is targeting annual sales of £5m for its specialist construction recruitment company, having just recorded its best ever monthly trading figures (August) despite the impact of the Covid 19 pandemic.

Jack Hurdley and James O’Donoghue, both from Solihull, founded Buildout Recruitment back in 2017 to meet the growing demand for white collar talent across all sectors in the construction industry.

Eighteen months after moving to new offices near Stratford Upon Avon, Buildout Recruitment has made four hires – including Tom Martin who joins as director of the freelance division – as the company grows its client base by providing a bespoke service to SME construction firms turning over between £5m and £500m.

The company is set to launch a new solution which will enable construction businesses to tap into a more streamlined and cost effective one stop shop for all its people recruitment needs.

The new service will complement Buildout Recruitment’s core operating divisions; one specialising in providing contractors on a temporary contract basis and the other head-hunting permanent, white-collar staff at a senior management and director level.

Since the start of the year and despite the impact of Coronavirus, Buildout says it has noticed a marked upturn in recruitment enquiries, with the West Midlands in particular seeing a steady flow of infrastructure and construction projects across house building, industrial warehousing and highway improvements.

Buildout’s leadership team has also been bolstered by an experienced board of non-executive advisors which include Sid Barnes, a recruitment industry expert who previously held an executive position at Adecco Group, one of the world’s largest human resources providers.

Joe Bates, a chartered accountant with over 40 years of experience, mainly as a partner in a large independent firm, has also joined the board along with Mike Turl, a construction industry expert with over 40 years of business experience.

O’Donoghue, said: “Boris Johnson has underlined the Government’s commitment to ‘Build, build, build’ in order to upgrade Britain’s infrastructure and skills which is great news for our clients and our own business.

“Like most business owners we obviously had some concerns during the lockdown period, but we continued to provide a service and have definitely seen an upturn in activity across both our divisions with growing demand for temporary workforce as well as permanent senior staff.

“We have successfully secured contracts on an exclusive basis and we are seeing a very positive response to our new recruitment process outsourcing offering which will not only save our clients time, but trim their staffing costs by between 30%-50%.”

Buildout is projecting sales of £5m within the short to-medium term and has ambitious plans to grow the team over the coming months.

Hurdley added:  “We are all about providing a highly personalised service for our client companies and expanding horizons for our candidates.  Getting recruitment right is a game changer for construction businesses and can genuinely change and propel careers for the individual.”
